Magic Wall

Mongkok

This 309sq.f unit now could house a king size bed, stowaway table for eight, dressing table, workstation as well as ample storage space for clutters to be left behind the doors. With a touch of a button, the user is able to transform the open-space into a bedroom, living room, party room or even a workout station. While mirror and glass are often the go-to solution for tight spaces, the designer has predominantly used wood and cement to give a beautiful balance of function and contemporary style to this apartment. The eyes are no longer drawn to the limited space, but rather the aesthetic and functionality of the space with the transformable unit as the focal point.

Like pieces of a puzzle, the space transformed itself into a series of moving parts. By examining each minute detail of the foundation, new and hidden functions revealed themselves to the designer. These overlooked nooks and crannies could then be utilized to its full potential such that small spaces will no longer be associated with a cramped and enclosed environment. By making use of horizontal and vertical space, this humble 309-square-feet, space must be redefined and delineated in such a way that whatever space hungry furniture such as king size beds, large shelving units and dining tables that struck the owners fancy, could be immediately conjured up for access.
